GeneCount® Cube Legionella Testing System
Bringing qPCR testing to the source of Legionella contamination
The GeneCount® Cube offers a rapid and precise solution for identifying and quantifying Legionella, the bacteria that can cause Legionnaire’s disease. Its ease of use and 45-minute turnaround time enable swift action to prevent outbreaks, protect public health, minimize regulatory risk exposure, and reduce remediation costs.
The GeneCount® Cube advantage
The GeneCount® Cube thermocycler delivers a powerful and versatile solution for Legionella testing, offering the following key benefits:
Speed
The GeneCount® Cube thermocycler allows for rapid on-site Legionella testing, providing actionable results within 45 minutes instead of weeks.
Simplicity
Designed for ease of use, the Cube’s qPCR testing protocol can be executed by individuals with minimal training, making it accessible for water quality testing in any location.
Quantitative Results
Unlike lateral flow immunoassays that only indicate if Legionella levels are above or below a threshold, the Cube precisely quantifies the presence of Legionella in water samples, delivering accurate data for more informed decision-making.
The Cube is your essential field-testing platform
Combined with the Legionella test kit, the GeneCount® Cube thermocycler offers a simple-to-use qPCR testing protocol for on-site water testing. The portable device can be operated by anyone with minimal training and at any location where water quality is a concern.
This eliminates the need to ship samples and wait for lab results, enabling users to take immediate action, thereby minimizing costs and downtime while protecting public health.
How the Cube works
The GeneCount® Cube and its specialized test kit employ advanced qPCR technology to quantify Legionella bacteria in your sample. qPCR testing is the gold standard for fast, accurate identification of specific microorganism targets of concern. It works by amplifying small amounts of DNA extracted from a sample using thermal cycling. During this process, the DNA is duplicated in multiple cycles, allowing for the quantification of target microorganisms in real-time, providing precise measurements of microbial contamination levels.
Gather a water sample from the target site, such as a cooling tower, plumbing system, or any area where Legionella presence is a concern. Always collect your sample following your local regulations and policies, where applicable/relevant.
Sample water is added to the Concentration System with a syringe. The Concentration System comprises all the components necessary to transfer the Legionella bacteria from a water sample to a test cartridge. The process is designed to be straightforward, minimizing errors and ensuring precise results.
Place the test cartridge into the GeneCount® Cube thermocycler, where the sample undergoes a thermal cycle reaction to quantify any Legionella bacteria present.
Allow the GeneCount® Cube to analyze the sample. In just 45 minutes, receive precise, actionable results directly on the connected laptop, enabling quick decision-making to address Legionella risks and safeguard public health.
Key part of the LuminUltra product portfolio
The GeneCount® Cube allows clients to perform fast and simple on-site Legionella testing, making it a critical component of a comprehensive microbial testing strategy. LuminUltra’s GeneCount® family of qPCR testing solutions can provide a more holistic view of microbial contamination within water systems, which includes addressing critical concerns like microbiologically induced corrosion (MIC).
Clients have the flexibility to choose between our mail-in testing services or invest in larger thermocyclers like the Voyager and Q-96, which offer increased throughput for high-volume testing needs in a lab-based environment.
