Atlantic Business Magazine has named LuminUltra Technologies Ltd.’s Chairman & CEO, Pat Whalen, to their 2020 Top 50 CEO list.
“It’s an honour to be recognized in the company of Atlantic Canada’s Top 50 CEOs,” says Whalen. “My father founded our company right here in Fredericton, New Brunswick and I’m proud to continue his legacy operating a growing business with the help of some of the region’s top talent.”
2020 has been a year of significant growth for LuminUltra. In April, Whalen quickly answered Canada’s call for help in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Applying the company’s extensive knowledge and expertise in environmental and industrial testing, he led an expansion into clinical diagnostic testing with the production of crucial extraction reagents.
“Our team at LuminUltra is very proud to be able to help Canadians during this incredibly difficult time for our country,” says Whalen.
LuminUltra is now a key supplier of COVID-19 clinical testing reagents for the Government of Canada, providing 500,000 tests per week to the federal testing program. Since the spring, the company has shipped more than 10 million tests to locations across the country and continues to develop clinical testing solutions to support the global pandemic response.
In addition to diagnostic testing, LuminUltra has also developed an environmental test to detect the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus – the virus that causes COVID-19 – on surfaces, in air and in wastewater.
“We are able to help the fight against COVID-19 with both clinical and environmental testing solutions that are essential to the ongoing efforts to keep the curve flat,” says Whalen.
