FREDERICTON, NB, Jan. 6, 2022 – LuminUltra CEO Pat Whalen has joined the advisory board of the University of New Brunswick’s (UNB) Fulcrum initiative.
The Fulcrum initiative is part of the university’s drive to support industry innovation, and this new advisory board brings together industry leaders to provide insight into UNB’s Research & Innovation Partnerships program.
“Strengthening the relationship between industry and academia is important for identifying and executing on opportunities that lead to economic growth,” said Pat Whalen, CEO of LuminUltra Technologies Ltd. “It’s also an honour to sit on a board with a range of leaders who have spent their careers demonstrating their commitment to innovation, collaboration, and growth.”
The five-member advisory board also includes Denis Caron, president and CEO of the Belledune Port Authority; Duncan Gallant, research and evaluation coordinator at the Joint Economic Development Initiative (JEDI); Alicia Roisman Ismach, head of Atlantic Fintech; and Beth Webster, vice-president, Populus Global Solutions.
UNB’s Fulcrum initiative, led by Vice-President (Research) David MaGee, explores how research partnership activities can best support economic and social growth in the region.
In addition to being LuminUltra’s President and CEO, Pat Whalen is active in the entrepreneurial community, serving as a board member and past chair of BioNB, coaching other business leaders, and holding memberships in a variety of professional organizations.
